Cold Outreach That Gets Replies
A FiscEdge Academy playbook — Build with AI series
Before you start
Most cold outreach fails for one reason: it is fast.
Someone buys a list of ten thousand emails, writes one template, swaps in a first name, and sends. The reply rate is under one percent, the domain reputation takes damage, and the conclusion drawn is "cold outreach doesn't work."
Cold outreach works. Fast, generic cold outreach doesn't.
The reason the fast version feels tempting is that the slow version used to be impossible: you could not personally research five hundred prospects. Now the research — who they are, what they just did, why they might care this week — is something you can produce at scale without lowering its quality. That single change is what this playbook is built on.
Five stages. Each one is written the same way:
- The shift — the belief you have to drop
- The move — the concrete thing you do
- Copy this — the prompt or message you can paste as-is
- Unlocked when — the test that proves the stage is working
The order matters. Stages 1 and 2 decide who you contact and why now — get these right and the message almost writes itself. Stages 3 and 4 are the message. Stage 5 is the follow-up, which is where most replies actually come from.
One note before anything else: this is a system for reaching people you have a genuine reason to reach, with something relevant to them. It is not a system for buying lists and blasting. The compliance line in Stage 5 is not optional fine print — read it before you send.
